Piece field guide
See exactly how every chess piece moves, attacks, and changes the fight.
All six pieces
Every move costs one Command, gives the piece a brief guard, and starts a 30-second recovery. Non-Pawn attacks deal 100% damage at the destination, 60% beside it, and 30% along the traveled path.

Pawn
Advances one square, or two from its starting rank. Captures a creep one square diagonally forward, heals 15 after moving, and promotes to a Queen at the far edge.

Knight
Jumps blockers with its chess L-move and stuns every enemy it hits for 1.5 seconds. Its damage path follows the two-square leg first.

Bishop
Slides diagonally through a clear path. Every surviving enemy hit by its movement attack is slowed for 3 seconds.

Rook
Slides horizontally or vertically through a clear path. Surviving enemies are pushed one open cell away from the Rook.

Queen
Slides horizontally, vertically, or diagonally through a clear path, then strikes up to six priority enemies in its damage footprint.

King
Moves one square in any direction. A command heals the King for 25 and adjacent defenders for 15. The King must survive.
